Processing, Forward Going

I have been on the road and away from home for awhile. Learning lots of new things and now am trying to get my head back around all the information and put it to good use. Presently, starting to work on a few new projects. The first is, "the umbrella project" for Forecast Public Art's Fundraiser. http://forecastpublicart.org/umbrella-events.php

The project entails creating an umbrella flash mob type event on the Target Plaza site.

I have been doing research in the plaza looking at the art work and moving wind sculpture of Ned Kahn and thinking about how a mass group of untrained and never before rehearsed individuals with umbrellas might create a big impact in relationship to the sculpture. Also, how sound carries in the space and what the eye would catch at twilight or as the sun is setting.. Going back tonight for another look see. Making has many different components.

Barebones Halloween Show

As we move into fall that can mean only one thing HALLOWEEN !!!! Yes, Halloween is on the make. This year as in many years past I am working a a core artist and builder... I am also co-directing with Arwen Wilder of HIJACK. This is my 15th year working on the show in some capaticity....hard to believe....The theme of this years show is loosely based on the Greek Myth of Jason and the Argonauts and we are trying to figure out ways to tell the story through myth, present day politics and humor.... We plan tell the Golden Fleeces side of the story... and use a chorus of Isadora Duncan style dancers and singer, there will be stilted Harpies, Clashing Rocks, FIre Breathing Bulls and much much more.... as we progress more will divulge itself here in Cyber Space...

Stilting at the State Fair -- Summer 2008

August the month when summer draws to a close and we move from heat of those long languid hot summer days and into the lure of the crisp autumn nights. But, before we get swept away by the Fall winds ...there is the wondrous ... Minnesota get together, aka the Minnesota State Fair, a Minnesota fave for many a year... where everything ... and I mean everything happens to come on a stick... as a founding member of Chicks on Sticks, this is one of my favorite gigs of the summer!! This was our third year silting as in daily parade and my first stilting nine days of the twelve day run...
